We are an all-volunteer organization
We need your support
We are an all-volunteer organization and need your help to continue our programs. We need you….. the community needs you…. and our community cats need you! Please see the areas listed below where we currently need help. The first step in volunteering for us is to attend one of our free TNR Classes, found HERE. Please do this before you complete our volunteer form.
Age requirement: Any job that involves handling cats can only be done if you are over 18 yrs old. There are many volunteer opportunities that can be done by a younger crowd such as fundraising and helping with events.
We can only do what we have the resources to support!
How to volunteer
Ways you can volunteer
Take In
01. Helpline
SAFCC has the only 24/7 Helpline in San Antonio dedicated to outside cats. A pre-recorded message will ask the caller to leave their name, number and reason for calling. Volunteers return calls within 24 hours and educate, give advice, and refer callers to an appropriate resource, as necessary. We provide comprehensive training. This is a perfect job for someone who wants to help but has physical limitations. We are always looking for new Helpline Volunteers!
Show Time
02. Petco/PetSmart Stores
We have adoptable cats at 5 Petco locations (Petco TPC, Petco Bandera, Petco San Pedro, Petco DeZavala, Petco Austin Hwy) and 3 PetSmart locations (PetSmart Windcrest, PetSmart Alamo Ranch, PetSmart San Pedro). We need a variety of volunteers for these locations!
- Cubbie Cleaners ensure a tidy cubicle for cats and an inviting environment for potential adopters!
- Adoption Counselors help facilitate adoptions.
- Store Volunteer Coordinators manage volunteer schedules for the store and supplies.
Educate
03. Tabling Event Attendants
Bring your enthusiasm to help spread the word about Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and the SAFCC Mission while building and maintaining relationships in our community! Events are mostly held on the weekends, but occasionally during the week or evenings. Flexible scheduling so volunteers can pick events that fit their schedule.
Mentor Fosters
04. One-Time-Foster Mentor
One-Time-Foster Mentors share their expertise and offer moral support to One-Time-Fosters, many who are fostering for the first time! Mentors keep fosters (and their feline guests!) on schedule for wellness visits, vaccinations and spay/neuter, prior to placement in the Petco/PetSmart cubicles for adoption. Mentors need to have strong organization skills and knowledge of basic cat care, cat behavior, common cat ailments, and bottle baby kittens.

06. Foster Parents
We are in need of fosters at this time.
We (San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition Community Cat Adoption Program – CCAP) receive more calls about kittens than any other group in town, yet our Foster Program is one of the smallest. Fostering is saving lives and is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Contact us today to find out about fostering. We provide food, toys, and medical care. You provide love!
