Press ReleasesPetco Love Grant for $18,000 Helps 340 Cats Lead Better Lives
San Antonio, TX (December 29, 2024) – Petco Love awarded the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition (SAFCC) $18,000 to spay and neuter outside cats in Bexar County.
This grant was used to spay, neuter, and vaccinate 340 outside cats in October. The Animal Defense League and the San Antonio Humane Society are clinics that SAFCC subsidizes for the public, so the fee is only $25. These two clinics fixed 151 cats. Dragonfly Vet Services fixed 189 cats from the SAFCC Trapper Team. The Trapper Team does Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for the elderly and disabled who are unable to trap. This grant also helped cats who required additional medical and/or surgical care at the time of spay/neuter.
SAFCC is the only organization solely dedicated to reducing the reproduction and suffering that comes with overpopulation. Our volunteer organization offers the community many programs and services that help rescue cats for adoption, financial support for vet care, food and shelters, and TNR. SAFCC supports the spay/neuter of over 5,000 outside cats each year.
