As concerns about the environmental impact of traditional Styrofoam shelters grow, the Feral Shelter Program is exploring more sustainable alternatives. We are introducing 17-gallon insulated plastic totes, in addition to our existing 27-gallon option. The smaller totes will be insulated with a reflective, double-bubble material, which can be purchased separately.
If you’re interested in supporting our mission, here’s a link to the type of insulation we need: Reflectix Insulation. The exact brand or size isn’t critical, as long as it has the same reflective properties.
Your help is crucial in ensuring our feral cats stay safe and comfortable this winter.

One special way to honor your Feral Shelter Program donation, is by memorializing it, just like Trish Kuper did for Kitty Boy, pictured left. Kitty Boy was a tough caseāhe was sick, injured, and in rough shape, but Trish worked tirelessly to earn his trust, eventually getting him to a vet. Sadly, due to the severity of his condition, the kindest option was to humanely euthanize him. That experience sparked Trish’s deep commitment to caring for feral cats, and she wanted to honor Kitty Boy through her donation of 6 totes to the Feral Shelter Program that say, “In Loving Memory of Kitty Boy,” pictured below.
In addition to tote donations, the Feral Shelter team is continuing to contact people on the waiting list for Styrofoam shelters as boxes trickle in. We want to extend a friendly reminder that like our organization as a whole, the Feral Shelter Program solely relies on donations. A delay in donations is a delay in getting requested materials to you!
If you would like to make a difference and memorialize your donation, please email us at [email protected] with your full name AND phone number. Your support is truly making a difference for community cats in Bexar County!
