Our previous Cat of the Month, Cousteau, won the hearts of a family on Monday, July 29th. We aren’t surprised that the larger-than-life black cat with a loving heart got his second chance at being a family cat.
In case you missed his story, Cousteau was actually adopted as a kitten 4 years ago, but was found abandoned this year and later diagnosed with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
With Cousteau’s adoption success as an FIV+ feline, we are incredibly proud to announce that we have been selected to participate in #PetSmartCharities FIV/FeLV Pilot Program! We are the only Texas-based rescue currently in the pilot.
We now have 8 FIV+ cats and 2 FeLV cats in our program and aspire to find several of them loving homes during this pilot, which will run until October 21st. This program allows us to bring our positively amazing FIV and FeLV cats to adoption events at partnered PetSmart stores where they can even stay in their adoption centers. Cousteau is proof that these cats will have the fantastic opportunity to be seen by the public, allowing their wonderful personalities to truly shine!
All the cats going to events and staying at our adoption centers are in good health, not showing any signs of illness, and will be closely monitored during their stays.
If you see one of our FIV+ or FeLV cats at any of our PetSmart adoption events, we hope you allow them the opportunity to be your perfect match like any other cat. We can’t wait for Cousteau’s friends to have families of their own soon! Stay tuned for more updates and come meet these amazing cats at one of our upcoming PetSmart adoption events!
