We Need Your Support

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization and need your help to continue our programs. We need you….. the community needs you…. and our community cats need you!

Age requirement: All volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Not yet 18 years old? Check out our SAFCC Young Leaders program

We can only help what we have the resources to support!

These are just a few

Ways You Can Volunteer

Take In

01. Helpline

SAFCC has the only 24/7 Helpline in San Antonio dedicated to outside cats. A pre-recorded message will ask the caller to leave their name, number and reason for calling. Volunteers return calls within 24 hours and educate, give advice, and refer callers to an appropriate resource, as necessary. We provide comprehensive training. This is a perfect job for someone who wants to help but has physical limitations. Learn about all the volunteer opportunities we have!

Save Lives

02. Foster Parents

Fosters Save Lives!

We (San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition Community Cat Adoption Program – CCAP) receive more calls about kittens than any other group in town, yet our growing CCAP Foster Program is still one of the smallest! Fostering is one of the most rewarding things you can do to help cats and kittens. CCAP provides wellness checks, vetting and any medical care. You provide food* and fresh water, a clean litter box, and lots of socialization and TLC! (Food available upon request, as available.)

If you’re interested in our “One-Time Foster” program, call the HelpLine at 210-877-9067 for instructions.

03. Presentation / Tabling Events

Bring your enthusiasm for cats and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to spread awareness about our Mission to others our community! Flexible scheduling so volunteers can pick events that fit their schedule.

Trained Presenters teach TNR Training Classes once a month. Other volunteer help needed for TNR Class is Data Entry and Merch Sales.

Tabling Events provide more casual one-on-one conversations with the public, are mostly held on the weekends, but occasionally during the week or evenings.

Trapper Experts

04. Trapper Team – Westside & Southside needed

An incredibly unique opportunity for experienced TNR Trappers to get paid to trap cats on a weekly basis exclusively from HelpLine referrals.

The Trapper Team helps seniors citizens and those physically unable to trap for TNR. Trapper Team may also be asked to help extra large colonies getting started with TNR.

Must have a large dependable vehicle, drivers license and current insurance, and room in your home to recover cats after surgery.

Cat Lovers Only!

05. Petco/PetSmart Stores

We have adoptable cats at 5 Petco locations (Petco TPC, Petco Bandera, Petco San Pedro, Petco DeZavala, Petco Austin Hwy) and 4 PetSmart locations (PetSmart Windcrest, PetSmart Alamo Ranch, PetSmart San Pedro). We need a variety of volunteers for these locations!

  • Cubbie Cleaners ensure a tidy cubicle for cats and an inviting environment for potential adopters!
  • Adoption Counselors help facilitate adoptions.
  • Store Volunteer Coordinators manage volunteer schedules for the store and supplies.
So much more!

SAFCC Young Leaders Program

The SAFCC Young Leaders Program is for Bexar County High School juniors and seniors, including homeschool, who would like to help the quality of life of community cats and the SAFCC Mission while earning service credit hours for National Honor Society, college admissions/scholarships, Eagle Scout projects, etc. in a non-volunteer capacity.

The Process: The SAFCC Young Leader candidate will contact the Volunteer Program Director at Volunteer@SanAntonioFeralCats.org to initiate a project and/or submit a project proposal.

Examples of SAFCC Young Leader projects include:

TNR Cat Food Drive – The SAFCC Young Leader spearheads the partnership with the Volunteer Team and TNR Cat Food Team to coordinate drop off by donors, and pick up by SAFCC caregivers who feed large colonies or otherwise in need of cat food assistance.

Outside Cat Shelter Tub Building – The SAFCC Young Leader requests donations of large plastic tubs and other supplies to build winter shelters using the specs from our Feral Shelter Program, or create an innovative design to protect outside cats from inclement weather.

Community/School Fundraiser – The SAFCC Young Leader can create a craft project or other service to raise funds within the community to be donated to SAFCC.

The SAFCC Young Leaders Program is open to new ideas and projects. Submit your project now!
