San Antonio, TX — July 28, 2026 — The San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition (SAFCC) is proud to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the Foxwynd Foundation to support the purchase of a newer transportation van that will expand the organization’s ability to serve community cats throughout Bexar County.
The new vehicle will replace SAFCC’s aging 2010 transit van, which has logged more than 200,000 miles transporting thousands of community cats to and from spay/neuter appointments, vaccinations, emergency veterinary care, and other lifesaving services. Reliable transportation is essential to the organization’s Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program and the many volunteer-driven services that improve the lives of community cats while reducing overpopulation.
Each year, SAFCC assists thousands of cats through its subsidized spay/neuter program, volunteer Trapper Team, Cat Crisis Fund, transport network, and community education initiatives. A dependable transportation vehicle allows volunteers to safely transport community cats for surgery and medical treatment, preventing unwanted litters, reducing the spread of disease through vaccination, and improving the health and well-being of both cats and the neighborhoods where they live.
“We are deeply grateful to the Foxwynd Foundation for this generous investment in our mission,” said Amy Oakley, President of the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition. “This grant provides more than just a vehicle—it strengthens our ability to reach more neighborhoods, transport more cats to lifesaving care, and continue building a healthier, more humane community for both people and animals.”
Founded in 2004, the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the population of free-roaming cats through humane Trap-Neuter-Return, low- cost spay/neuter assistance, education, and community outreach. Since its founding, SAFCC has trained more than 15,000 residents in humane community cat management and has become one of South Texas’s leading resources for community cat caretakers.
“The San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition exemplifies how dedicated volunteers and strategic partnerships can create lasting environmental impact,” said Gloria Galvez, Grant & Partnership Manager at the Foxwynd Foundation. “We are proud to support an organization whose compassionate, community- driven approach improves the lives of both animals and people while promoting healthier, more sustainable neighborhoods. Their volunteer-driven approach reflects the kind of long-term, community- based impact the Foxwynd Foundation is honored to support.”
This grant was awarded through a Donor-Advised Fund administered by the Foxwynd Foundation.
