Bark in the Park – Perrito Grito is here!

San Antonio’s largest pet fiesta, Bark in the Park – Perrito Grito  held at Woodlawn Lake Park was an event for the whole family! It was a great way to have some outdoor fun and enjoy free entertainment.

We had adoptable pets, a low-cost shot clinic, pet contests, food trucks, and live music by the Network for Young Artists and the one and only Los #3 Dinners!

The highlights included:

  • FREE spay/neuter
  • Low-cost vaccinations and microchipping provided by Pet Shotz, Inc.
  • Adoptable pets from over 20 different rescue groups
  • Pet contests with celebrity guest judges
  • K-Hill BBQ and Saweet Cupcakes food trucks
  • Live entertainment
  • Kids’ activity zone sponsored by the Salvation Army
  • Pet obedience demonstrations
  • A variety of vendors for all your pet’s needs
  • Freebies and more!

Bark in the Park – Perrito Grito was presented by the Petco Foundation and brought to  you by Talk About It!, the Animal No-kill program of the San Antonio Area Foundation

National Feral Cat Day Event

San Antonio’s 3rd annual National Feral Cat Day, as proclaimed by Mayor Castro, was a huge success! Thank you to the many volunteers who made that happen!

Our main event, the silent auction at Ft Sam Golf Club, raised $2,564 which will go towards paying the spay/neuter subsidy to our partnered clinics.

Over the past year, the clinic spay/neuter specials fixed 101 cats! (SA Humane Society (59), ADL (34), &  SpaySA (8) THANK YOU – CLINICS!

Guest speakers provided updates and exciting news about the new Brackenridge Paul Jolly Adoption Center and the Petco Spay/Neuter Clinic. Thank you, Kathy Davis, Dr Fretorry Rogers, and Rosemary Jones!

We had a tie this year for our Proctor Award honoring volunteers who have made incredible efforts promoting and implementing TNR in the community.

Congratulations to the team of Caroline Byrd & Nettie Lucio and to Delfina Martinez!

The Fort Sam Golf Club did a wonderful job with the hors d’oeuvre buffet and the incredible, edible cake below was as delicious as it is beautiful! Note the cat at the bottom walks around until he reaches “SAFCC” on the middle tier, then becomes a happy ear-tipped cat at the top! The cake was made by one of our volunteers, Sarah Roan.

The event received press coverage as well. Cathy Rosenthal wrote another nice column highlighting NFCD and what we do – Thanks, Cathy! In addition, we had an article in Texas Dogs & Cats magazine – Thanks, Dana Raimondi, Publisher!
