How You Can Help
We are an all-volunteer organization and need your help to continue our current programs! Please see the areas where we currently need help. If you are interested in volunteering, we prefer you have attended a TNR class and have some experience with what we do.
If you would like to help with TNR, or if you are already involved, please Email or fill out our volunteer form and join our network! Children under age 18 can man an information booth, answer helpline, stuff envelopes, etc. but cannot interact with cats due to possible injury.
Check our Events page for meeting times and locations.
SAFCC has the only 24/7 Helpline in San Antonio dedicated to outside cats. A pre-recorded message will ask the caller to leave their name, number and reason for calling. Volunteers return calls within 24 hours and educate, give advice, and refer callers to an appropriate resource, as necessary. We provide cell phone and training. This is a perfect job for someone who wants to help but has physical limitations. We are always looking for new Helpline Volunteers! Contact us today if you can help!
We receive more calls about kittens than any other group in San Antonio, yet our foster program is one of the smallest. Fostering is saving lives and is one of the most rewarding things you can do. You must be able to bring kittens to adoption events and vet visits when needed. We provide food, toys and medical care. You provide love! Contact us today to find out about fostering.
We have adoptable cats at two Petco locations in San Antonio (Austin Highway and DeZavala at Vance Jackson). We need volunteers to feed and clean cubicles, especially in the late afternoon or evening. We need Sunday volunteers to help show cats (12-4pm). If you reside nearby to these locations, please consider taking these cats for an overnight stay so these cats can stretch their legs and play. Contact us today if you can help!
These fun, weekend community events give us the opportunity to spread the word about our work with community cats, to show off our adoptable cats and kittens and to encourage people to volunteer. We only participate in 3-4 “tent” events a year and a few smaller events where have a table and give information about TNR and SAFCC or showcase some of our adoptable cats. We would really love to have a volunteer that can spearhead our events, but please contact us if you can man the occasional event too. Contact us today if you can help!
We provide several TNR educational workshops throughout San Antonio and throughout the year. We are always in need of volunteers that can lead these presentations. Presentations would rotate between several volunteers. Contact us today if you can help!
